We all have moments in life when we want to give up. Sometimes this feeling happens right when we start a goal or task and sometimes it takes a while for the ‘give up gene’ to kick in. No matter who you are and where you are at in your life I bet there are many times when you have wanted to give up something that you really wanted to accomplish. Or, you haven’t given up something that you knew you really should.
I believe everyone wants to be successful at their goals but the reality is that most people are not. At the end of the day success really is the result of the habit of never giving up on that goal. Success can only happen after we have already passed the giving up point and we pushed through it anyways.
Sounds like it is easier said then done, right? We often think that giving up is the easier option. It takes us back into our comfort zone and keeps us feeling really nice and cozy in our safe, stuck, unhappy place. But if we begin to really think about what led us to that original goal in the first place we will uncover that actually pushing through and achieving that goal is much less painful then it is to stay stuck in a place we are unhappy in.
You see people do things for two motivations. The first motivation is to receive pleasure, and the second is to avoid pain. When the pain of staying where we are at becomes strong enough, that is when we will change.
If you do not become a master at pushing through the feeling of wanting to give up then sadly I have bad news for you–you will never achieve the goals you truly want to acheive. You may be thinking, Brittney, that is really harsh and I wish you wouldn’t have said that. I am sorry, but it is the truth. You can not get something for nothing. Your goals and dreams matter, but they will only be acheived when you decide that giving up on them is not an option. You must push forward no matter what obstacles come in your way. You must have faith that something great will be created because of your diligence to your true self. Anyone that has ever achieved massive goals or lifestyle breakthroughs will tell you that there were countless times they wanted to give up or they thought they couldn’t do it. But, they kept on pushing everyday— no matter what.
With every prize there is some pain, and with every excuse comes a consequence.
Playing small in life is not safe. It is the most dangerous thing you can do because in doing so you block your soul from its full potential, and why you were put on this earth. Recently, I accomplished a major goal and rank advancement in my Network Marketing company. I have built my home based business in the pockets of my life, while staying home and taking care of my two young daughters full time. It has not always been easy, there have been moments of struggle, sacrifice, and fear. But I knew what my end goal was– I wanted to be able to stay at home with my kids, still provide income for my family, and still do work that I was super passionate about.
Nothing happens overnight and while I am still working toward my massive goal, this major milestone has allowed me the space to look back and see the gifts in all the struggles, or perceived challenges, I have had along the way. What I didn’t realize when those moments were happening was that the trials and tribulations were what allowed me to grow into the person I needed to be in order to make my goal a reality. When you know that giving up is not an option, and that your dreams matter, you will do whatever it takes to get there.
Everyone person deserves the opportunity to have their dreams become reality and I truly believe that in the culture we are creating that more and more people will accomplish that, because they are giving themselves the space to move through what seems like the impossible. Once you move past that space you can find your true power and inner peace. Anyone that has ever accomplished something spectacular faced unsurmountable challenges that most people were not aware of.
One of my mentors years ago said to me, ” The only way to it is through it”, and I have always done my best to live by that statement, even when things were really hard and I wanted to give up. You may get knocked down in the process, but know that you are strong enough to get back up and try again.
Maybe you are going through some challenges right now in your life and you want to give up, or maybe you have started a new healthy lifestyle and you want to give up, or maybe your relationships are in chaos and you want to give up— whatever it maybe for you right now know this—If you learn to control yourself through those feelings, you can absolutely breakthrough any obstacle or challenge, no matter how large or small, AND, you can be, do and have anything you desire in this life!
Repeat this mantra and never ever ever ever give up!
“It is safe for me to accomplish my goals. I allow myself the space and time to create the life I desire. I will never give up.”
Remember that your journey and your struggles will inspire others to break through theirs as well. When you liberate yourself you unconsciously give others the right to liberate themselves in the process.
Know that I believe in you and you deserve to be healthy, happy, and free!
